Interflow has just completed lining 1.2km of ovoid sewers in Fremantle, WA using its Interline CIPP product. Interflow has been successfully installing cured-in-place liners in large sized ovoid sewers for the last 2 years. The expertise and capability that has been developed won it a Civil Contractors Engineering Excellence Award for a particularly difficult project in Adelaide in 2011. On Stage 2 of the Fremantle Main Sewer Refurbishment project the ovoid sewers were lined with cured-in-place liners with thicknesses ranging from 7mm to 16mm. Liner wet-out and installation was mostly undertaken at night to avoid the heat of Perths summer days, as well as to minimise disruption to traffic movement in the mostly commercial area where the sewer passed through. Curing of the liners then took place during the day, were the noise from the boilers did not cause disturbance. This project was another example of Trenchless Technology delivering successful underground infrastructure renewal with minimal community inconvenience.
