Bursting with ideas for Hunter Water

Our Central Coast team demonstrated Competence and Reliability while solving a problem for their customer, Hunter Water Corporation.
A sewer main had burst three times in six months and was considered a critical environmental risk. We were engaged to rehabilitate the line and return it to its optimal operating condition under an existing potable water contract.
Relining was quickly ruled out because a loss of diameter couldn’t be tolerated by the network’s pumping system. The boggy swampland surrounding the pipe presented challenges to any solution that required digging up and replacing the pipe.
To overcome these constraints, the team proposed pipe bursting, a solution that had not often been used within the Hunter Water network.
Our demonstrated competence throughout our long-term relationship with the customer gave them confidence in our team’s ability to deliver the solution, and the proposal was accepted.

Using a brand-new bursting head and expanding cone, and with the help of our ACT potable water crew, the team was able to replace the failing section of line without any loss of diameter.
The project gave our people the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and provided our customer with another tried-and-tested solution for future projects – a stellar effort by all involved!
