Interflow has commenced installation of a Ribline steel reinforced polyethylene liner in a unique project in BrisbaneM
The S1 sewer, which turns 100 this year, carries 60% of Brisbane’s sewage. It runs some 20 metres deep under Kingsford Smith Drive, one of the city’s main roads.
Interflow is undertaking the first stage of rehabilitation, lining about 1.3 kilometres of sewer with a nominal diameter of 1350mm.
Flow bypass is not possible, so the liner is being installed in live flow conditions. All work happens at night to take advantage of low flow conditions, and to minimise traffic disruption.
It is expected that the work will take around 4 months to complete.
